Residential Roofing
ur experience in working with home owners is that many people innately believe that the process of installing a new roof is little more than nailing new shingles to an existing deck. Lucas Custom Homes (LCH) thoroughly inspects the roofs decking for broken boards, warp spots, and sagging. Replacing faulty decking is essential in ensuring a long lasting life for your new roof. LCH staff are educated in risk assessment so that they may better explain the benefit of a properly installed roof and how it pertains to your particular roofing needs. Hand nailing shingles ensures that each and every nail has been placed in the correct location, which helps prevent the potential for future leaking. Installing a new roof without the proper education, training, and skill can and usually does result in structural deterioration and interior leaking.
Residential Roofs:
Steep slope roofing, or residential roofing, is defined as roofing materials installed on a roof with a 3:12 pitch or greater. The best way to illustrate this is to take a standard 12 inch ruler and raise one side 3 inches off the table. You will see that it is a very low angle slope, or pitch. Most residential roofs in Oklahoma range between a 5:12 and an 8:12. Roofs above a 8 pitch are very steep and difficult to walk on.
Most steep slope roofing products are not considered water proof. They are designed to shed water. As rain falls on a roof in a downward angle, the shingles allow the water to flow and run off the roof into your gutter system. When hard, wind driven rain or ice form on the roof, water can penetrate at an upward angle resulting in leakage. We specialize in building a roof that lasts using only the best products available. Come wind, hail, or rain, your roof will keep your home dry.
Our Roofing Mission:
The LCH company mission is to provide the most educated and professional install possible for all of its clients. It is important for us to treat each home that we work on as our own. The most ethical way to properly install a roof is by ensuring full disclosure, to the home owner, of roof conditions and all work performed on the project. Our installing crews are highly trained and experienced in roofing, framing, decking, and sealing. Each crew is led by its own on site project manager, who is solely responsible for the outcome of the roof and its quality.
